Adult Psychiatric Treatment
Quotes “When I was first admitted, I didn’t know what to expect. But I received such a warm and friendly welcoming experience that it allowed me to open up and want to get help on my addiction and related behaviors.” “I was here for depression and I felt well cared for during my treatment. Staff was helpful and caring and they will always be in my heart.” Click here for our Adult Services Brochure. Overview The adult psychiatric and substance abuse treatment programs at Our Lady of Peace are designed to help individuals who have short term and/or acute care mental health and/or substance abuse needs. At Our Lady of Peace, we have programs at every level of care for adults and seniors needing care for any disorder they may experience, from a single episode of depression to complex and persistent dual diagnosis illnesses. Services
Adult Addictions Treatment and Medical Detoxification Our Lady of Peace provides a full array of services for addiction treatment. The American Society of Addiction Medicine recommends a flexible continuum of care that includes inpatient, outpatient and aftercare services. Although the average length of overall stay is 14 to 30 days, traditional 28-day inpatient hospitalization has been replaced with a more inclusive, individualized treatment plan. Patients graduate to the appropriate level of care as they progress in their recovery. Across the continuum, we offer evidence-based best practices such as medication assisted recovery, 12-step facilitation, relapse prevention, motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, family therapy and discharge planning. Adult Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment Our Lady of Peace provides Integrated Dual Diagnosis Treatment (IDDT) for patients who have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. A guiding principle of IDDT is that people with co-occurring disorders deserve access to the services that they need to recover. They can and do recover. Services for both mental illness and substance abuse are provided simultaneously by the same treatment team so that both disorders are treated effectively. Our dual diagnosis capable and enhanced programs include: service providers knowledgeable about alcohol and drug use, as well as mental illness; screening and assessment for co-occurring illnesses; integrated prevention and treatment services; readiness assessment and stages of change treatment; motivational interviewing; and substance abuse counseling. Geriatric Treatment Services and Outpatient Programming for Seniors When seniors suffer from symptoms from mental health and/or substance use disorders but are stable to be in a home or community environment, we also offer full and half day partial hospital programming. A team of psychiatrists, nurses and licensed clinicians offer treatment at this level of care with a focus on medication management, psychotherapy, and education about coping skills, illness management and grief and loss. Peaceful Transitions Outpatient Program for Adults with Severe Mental Illness Adults who suffer from Severe Mental Illness (SMI) and are in acute psychiatric crisis can benefit from the Peaceful Transitions Program. The program that includes full and half day programming is designed to prevent patients from an inpatient hospitalization. The Transitions team specializes in this type of treatment and has a thorough understanding of the unique needs of people with severe mental illness and their families. Patients with any psychiatric diagnosis are accepted; however, patients must meet the criteria for severe and persistent mental illness (impaired functioning due to severity of symptoms). The most common diagnosis includes schizophrenia and other thought disorders, severe mood disorders such as bipolar disorder and major depression with psychosis, and borderline personality disorder. This healing process begins with medical care coupled with the development of healthy coping skills and therapy provided by licensed clinicians.
